Huge CONGRATULATIONS to the Rowner Junior Dance Live performers. We could not be prouder of the children who participated in Dance Live 2021 at Rowner. The dancers were not able to compete on a stage this year in front of a live audience due to COVID restrictions. However this did not deter the dancers! Embracing an ever-evolving digital world and how this is changing the face of modern performance, Dance Live! enabled schools to compete with their choreographed routines to the backdrop of a giant digital screen with pupils showcasing a range of skills from dance, performance and off-stage technical skills to creative design. Each school had their performance recorded by the Dance Live team and the videos were shared in an online final on Saturday 19 June and for the third consecutive year, Rowner Junior won with their performance of Jack – a retelling of the popular fairytale Jack and The Beanstalk. This is an incredible achievement in itself but more so during a year of COVID which interrupted regular rehearsals. Some of the children were able to watch the performances of the 9 competing schools on Saturday at school. The children are naturally very proud of themselves as are we. A few of the judges comments include:
‘Wowzers!! What a way to tell a story!!’
‘Loved the way you used the screen and played around with different methods for making content. Loved the different stylings involved in this. Its Jack and the beanstalk for the 21st century. Brilliantly done.’
‘Clever interpretation of a classic story – Jack & The Beanstalk. Modern. Edgy. Clean choreography. Good teamwork.’
‘A great commitment and focus from all performers. The overall performance was so imaginative, it had a very clear story progression throughout and was very easy to follow and understand what was going on.’
Congratulations to all the children and a huge thank you to Team Rowner for enabling this wonderful opportunity which demands considerable work.
