Become a Graduate Tutor at the GFM to help the ‘Recovery’ of learning

At the GFM, we are looking for enthusiastic and creative graduates or undergraduates in their third year of study, to join our team of tutoring specialists on a casual basis.

  • Do you have a passion for learning and teaching?
  • Are you eager to contribute to strategic development in your subject specialism?
  • Can you demonstrate patience and adapt to support learning?
  • Can you explain concepts in an engaging way and build meaningful relationships with young people?
  • Do you value high quality training and professional development?
  • Are you committed to safeguarding children and young people?

What some of our Graduate Tutors say:

You will tutor across the age and ability range in groups of no more than 4 pupils. You will play a part, together with other colleagues, in the continuing development of the subject you specialise in. Through our training programme you will become committed to providing high quality, targeted interventions for learning in a variety of subjects and assist with preparing students for exams.

We seek applications from all subjects and are particularly interested in receiving applications from those with an A Level or higher qualification in English, Maths or a Science. The opportunity to progress into teaching may exist for those with either the experience or the potential to do so.

How to apply

Applicants applying for a position must complete the GFM application form. Please ensure all sections of the application are filled in and that all gaps between employment are noted. Please do not send CVs as we are unable to accept these.

For enquiries and to return applications email: recruitment@gfmat.org or telephone: (023) 9261 6012

Where we receive a large volume of applications, we may close the post early, therefore you are strongly advised to submit your application as soon as possible.

Any offer of employment will be conditional on receipt of;

  • proof of right to work in the UK
  • satisfactory references
  • pre employment medical check
  • clear enhanced DBS check
Safeguarding statement

GFM Education is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment.

A ‘prohibition from teaching’ check will be completed for all shortlisted teaching candidates including those applying for a teaching assistant/Cover Supervisor/Other work deemed directly involved with pupils where it is indicated that they have qualified teacher status or have previously worked as a teacher. We will also consider carrying out an online search as part of due diligence on shortlisted candidates as recommended by KCSiE.

All successful candidates will be subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks.

  • It is a criminal offence to apply for or accept a position (paid or unpaid) working with children if you are excluded from such work by virtue of a court order or exclusion by the DBS.
  • Although a criminal record involving offences against children is likely to debar you from appointment of this type of post, the existence of other criminal convictions will not necessarily be a bar to employment.

GFM Education pursues a policy of equality of opportunity. We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
